No Date but 1860
What it is and what it is not.
FIRST EDITION Second issue, 8vo, 8.5 x 5.5 inches, 79 + pp. Bound in original publisher's black pebbled cloth with gilt lettering to the upper board, skilfully re-backed in matching black cloth, a little worn on extremities, but a very good copy of a fragile item. This is Florence Nightingale's second published book which was first published earlier the same year. This second issue is identical apart from the words 'The Right of Translation is Reserved' have been added to the title page (they were absent from the first issue). The advertisements which form the endpapers feature Burke's Peerage and Baronetage for 1860 on the front pastedown. On the rear pastedown, the last item on Harrison's list amongst other works is the "Comparative Grammar of the Dravidian".
