4to. 13 x 10 inches. viii + 232 pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, with gilt and blind stamped blocks. Some wear to extremities and fly leaves browned, but otherwise a very good clean interior. Illustrated by colour frontispiece and by numerous black and white text figures. Decorated by title page vignette with printer's colophon on verso and by initials. Well illustrated biography of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson and naval history of the era. Admiral Lord Charles Beresford (1846-1919) was also an MP who advocated the cause of the navy in Parliament. He held the senior sea commands of the Mediterranean and Channel Fleets, but never achieved the highest ranks as a result of his feud with Admiral John Fisher, whose naval reforms he opposed. Herbert Wrigley Wilson (1866-1940), was a journalist, assistant editor of the Daily Mail from 1898 and naval historian, who edited the thirteen volume periodical, The Great War, 1914- 19.
