Illustrated by 123 photo-lithographic plates, including frontispiece and by 192 text figures. Extensively illustrated first edition of what became a popular text book on the use of motifs derived from nature in artistic ornament. Lewis Foreman Day (1845-1910) was a decorative artist who became prominent in the Arts and Crafts movement.
