FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. 9.5 x 6.25 inches. 544 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has a little edge wear and spotting. First free endpaper removed and a little foxing of plate margins; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 9 black and white pages of plates, including portrait frontispiece, two plans in text and by folding map in red and black at end. Autobiography of Felix William Gade (1890-1978). He was born in Hammersmith and after war service, worked in the motor industry, before applying for the post of resident agent of Lundy island from 1926, a position from which he retired in 1971. This is a detailed account of his life on the island from 1926 to 1973. It includes an appendix on the postal history of Lundy. Scarce title in the limited first edition.
