Essays on eight masterpieces by Henri Matisse (1869-1954) housed in the collections of the Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen, which holds one of the most important Matisse collections in the world. Most of the works were selected by Matisse himself to represent significant contexts of his work and were exhibited at the early landmark exhibitions that served to establish his name as an innovative artist. It includes his work from Collioure in French Catalonia, where he arrived in 1905.
