Notes

The story of the life and work of two remarkable and gifted artists with radically different backgrounds, visions and approaches. Mary Fedden, RA (1915-20120 studied at the Slade, served in the Land Army and was exhibiting in London from 1947. Julian Trevelyan, RA (1910-1988) became a Surrealist after working in Paris and joined the Mass Observation movement in 1937. The two artists married in 1951 and lived for nearly forty years at Durham Wharf, Chiswick, both later teaching at the Royal College of Art. José Manser is an architectural writer and biographer.
