A little wear to extremities, browning of fly leaves and light spotting of edges and margins; otherwise a very good copy. Printed label of names of three high society sponsors of book, 1938, attached to front pastedown. Illustrated by Escoffier facsimile and by 12 pages of plates. English edition of the 1929 French text of Michel Bouzy, who was chef cuisinier at the famous seafood restaurant of Madame Simone Prunier (b.1903) in Paris. It was translated and edited by Ambrose Heath (1891-1969), journalist, food writer and prolific author of cookbooks, including many wartime titles. Beautifully illustrated by the French painter, engraver and etcher, Mathurin Meheut (1882-1958), known for his depiction of the sea and marine life. Reprint of the first edition, also of 1938, with sponsorship label attached.
