[xx] + 482 pp. Separate title page, La Relation Veritable, Paris De Lvyne, 1653 and half title for Typhon, in both cases pagination and register continuous, although second half of r and all of s signatures are omitted. Bound in contemporary speckled calf with gold borders on boards; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt with gilt title. Extremities a little worn and some inconspicuous marginal worming; otherwise a very good copy. Early ownership inscription on title page with ink device over part of title. Illustrated by 3 copperplates, including portrait frontispiece. Decorated by title page, head and tailpiece vignettes (including tailpiece ornaments and by initials. A collection of short pieces, many in verse, by Paul Scarron (1610-60), French playwright, poet and novelist, who married Francoise d'Aubigny who later, as Madame de Maintenon, married Louis XIV. The content of the volumes includes, odes, sonnets, songs, dedications, epistles, burlesques and epigrams. The recipients to whom this material is dedicated to include the Queen of France, the late William of Nassau, Prince of Orange, Marshall Schomberg and the Cardinals, Mazarin and Richelieu. A very scarce title.
