FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 5.25 x 7.5 inches. vi + 153 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has chips and edge loss. A few small stains on boards, but otherwise a very good copy. 1944 inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated by map frontispiece and by 8 pages of black and white plates. Memoir of a RAF fighter pilot during the Battle of Singapore and over Sumatra, 1942. Arthur Gerald Donahue (1913-42) from Minnesota served as one of the eleven US pilots in the RAF during the Battle of Britain. After his return to the UK, he served with 91 Squadron and was shot down over the sea in action with German bombers. His earlier book was Tally-Ho! Yankee in a Spitfire (1941).
