Illustrated by 24 black and white pages, including plans and facsimiles, numbered in text. The economic and social history of the early Kentish seaside,derived from numerous sources, both printed and manuscript, in the Kent archives collections, compiled by Dr John Whyman (b.1939), Lecturer in Economic History at the University of Kent from 1968 and local historian. The major subject sections are Transport,Accommodation, Sea Bathing and Sea Air, Outdoor Amusements, Indoor entertainment, The Elite Visitor, Busy Seasons and Specific Visits, Holidays and Resorts. It was published to coincide with a major circulating exhibition in the county.
