Folio. 8.5 x 13 inches. 146 pp. advertisements, including publisher's titles, with alphabetical and classified lists + [4] + vi pp + 74 + 53 + [1] + 24 pp. Addenda + 315 + [1] + 94 pp. Sections have separate pagination and half titles. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, with gilt title block on front boards. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good interior. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, national markings, silhouette three view drawings and by tables. Advertisement endpapers. The 1945-46 edition of the standard reference work on aircraft, first published in 1909. The work, the first to be published since the end of the war and including the new jet aircraft, is divided into four sections: two historical, World Air Power (Service Aviation) and Civil Aviation (entries arranged by country) and Aeroplanes and Aero-Engines (both arranged by manufacturer within each country). Leonard Bridgman (1877-1980) was an aviation journalist and artist, who edited Jane's from 1941-59.
