Large 8vo. 10 x 6.75 inches. [1] + 21 + [2] pp. Title page and opening and closing lines in red and black. Bound in original blue cloth with printed paper title page. A little wear to board edges and sunning of spine label; otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by double page title engraving by J. F. Doeve. Decorated by vignettes on sub title and within text. Limited edition made and produced by George Rainbird and Ruari McLean for presentation to their friends at Christmas 1951. A children's story by the Dutch poet, J. W. F. Werumeus Buning (1891-1958), first published By Elsevier, Amsterdam in 1950. Rainbird (1905-86) was a publisher who joined forces with McLean to found the publishing house, Rainbird, McLean in 1951. A distinguished typographer, McLean (1917-2006) earlier worked for Penguin books on their Puffin series and with Marcus Morris on the layout of the new comic, the Eagle.
