4to. 12.25 x 9.75 inches. 128 pp. In black card wrappers with colour illustration fixed to front wrapper and engraving on rear wrapper. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs and by engravings. Decorated vignette title page. Trade catalogue with photographs and cross-sections of greenhouses, conservatories and other horticultural structures. Thomas Goode Messenger was in business in High Street, Loughborough as a plumber, glazier and glassfitter by 1855, becoming Messenger and Co. in 1855. In 1884 moved to larger premises which were equipped with a foundry; from 1930 it concentrated activity as heating engineers, closing in 1980. The archives are held by the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading and by Leicestershire Record Office. Library Hub notes an early version of this catalogue dated 1880 and a second edition for 1890.
