TWO VOLUMES. 8vo. 6.25 x 9 inches. Vol. I, xvii + [i] + 322 pp.; Vol. II, xi + [i] + 358 pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, with black borders on front boards, enclosing gilt and black blocks. A little wear to extremities, including chips at heads of spines, which are sunned; otherwise a very good set. Small paper circles with typed initials on front pastedowns. Illustrated by 2 colour frontispieces and by 19 maps, all folding except for one which is two page. A detailed standard history of the Guards Division, officially formed in August 1915, with a preliminary section on the Guards in France and Flanders before its formation. Sir Cuthbert Morley Headlam, 1st Bart. later served as a Tory MP, his personal diary and military papers providing primary source material for historians.
