Mr Abell's aim was to connect the wider history of Britain with the events in Kent, from Roman times to the 19th century. It remains a useful work, which has become quite scarce.
We have another similar copy, with 1898 gift inscription on verso of first free endpaper and bookseller's label, Blinko and Son, Booksellers and stationers, 27, Queen St., Ramsgate on rear pastedown.
