Large 8vo. 9.5 x 7.25 inches. 73 + [1] pp. Bound in green patterned stiff card boards with gilt titles on black labels. Green patterned endpapers. A very good copy. Illustrated throughout by paint samples pasted in and by black and white text figure. Examples of notable colours of the past, from a variety of historical cultures, porcelain and tapestry manufacturers, etc., reproduced in samples of the company's decorative paints. Thos Parsons was a long established firm of paint manufacturers, established by George Parsons in Long Acre in 1802. The Mitcham, Surrey works was closed down in 1964 when the company was taken over. The first edition of Historical Colours appeared in 1934 and the sixth edition in 1961.
