Deckled edges. Extremities worn and edges browned, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by engraved frontispiece and by 180 engraved copperplates, each with descriptive engraved letterpress. Following a short introduction, the content of the book consists of 180 copperplates with engraved letterpress text, illustrating the history of the Roman republic from Romulus and Remus to Anthony and Cleopatra. The plates are by Silvestre David Mirys (1742-1810), French artist and engraver.
