A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Early note on de Nerval on front pastedown. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece. Decorated by publisher's device as colophon at end. Biography of the French romantic writer and poet, G?rard de Nerval (1818-55), a pseudonym for G?rard Labrunie, translator of Goethe's Faust, who had an influence on several later writers, including Proust. The author, Alfred Delvau (1825-67) was a journalist and writer, author of several books on Paris and its history.
