Bound in original red cloth with black titles, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has edge wear, including small missing sections at head and tail of spine. stain on front flyleaf, but otherwise a very good copy. illustrated by 144 coloured map pages, including title page and by  pp. black and white maps at end. The atlas covers an area of approximately twenty miles around Charing Cross, including all the City of London and the whole of the London Postal District area. Over ninety City, County, Borough or District Councils are enumerated on the back flap of the dust wrapper. The atlas appears to be the 1959 edition (first published 1947), the last to be prepared under the direction of Alexander Gross (1879-1958), cartographer and founder of the firm, Geographia, later absorbed into Collins Bartholomew. A useful survey of post-war London before the reorganisation of local government of 1965.
