Illustrated by 16 pages of black and white plates, genealogical table and by 8 maps in text. A new biography of Edward the Black Prince (1330-76), eldest son of Edward III. It pays close attention to his early years and close companions, to his government of Aquitaine as well as to the confused accounts of his great battles, including Crecy and Poitiers. The author has based his account on official records, including those of the Prince's household. Richard William Barber (b.1941) is a historian, biographer, Arthurian specialist and publisher. He helped found the Boydell Press in 1969 and was visiting Professor in the History Department of the University of York, 2013-16.
