Vol. 1, 414 + [1] + 15 pp. Under-wing Plates; Vol. 2, [8] + 445-945 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, with gilt blocks on front boards, in pictorial slip case, which has a little wear to extremities; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 33 text figures (one coloured). 3 tables, 165 plates (the majority coloured), 94 maps and 15 under-wing plates. A detailed and very well illustrated two volume work on the diurnal birds of prey of the world. Leslie Brown (1917-80), raptor researcher joined the Colonial Agricultural Service in Kenya in 1940, retiring as Chief Agriculturist in 1963, was an extensive field observer of birds of prey. Dean Amadon (1912-2003) was an US Ornithologist and authority on birds of prey, working at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, 1937-73.
