Top and fore edges a little sunned; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 16 pages of photographic plates and by 3 maps and plans. A detailed reappraisal of the Allied bombing of Dresden which resulted in the destruction of the city's historic centre and heavy loss of life in the subsequent firestorm. Much of the war based industries, held to be a justification for the raid were, however, beyond the central area and escaped the attack. Based on research in the archives and primary sources and on interviews with Allied aircrew and the city's survivors (including slave labourers, members of the German armed forces and refugees from the east.
