Two out of the three volumes of Die Beiden Bräute (The Two Brides), by August Heinrich Julius Lafontaine (1758-1831, a prolific novelist born in Brunswick, who wrote sentimental novels of domestic life, much in favour at the court of Prussia, and more popular than Goethe in his day. A third volume was published in 1809.
