Two out of the three volumes of Der Hausvater (Father of a Family) by August Heinrich Julius Lafontaine (1758-1831), a prolific novelist born in Brunswick, who wrote sentimental novels of domestic life, much in favour at the court of Prussia, and more popular than Goethe in his day. A third volume was also published in 1810.
