Bound in original morocco with decorated gilt borders to boards; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt with contrasting green title label, gilt. Inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Eton College presentation panel on first page. Extremities worn and front hinge and joint weak, but otherwise a fine clean copy. Decorated by head and tailpieces, initials and colophon. A fine and beautifully printed edition of the sixteen satires of Decius Junius Juvenal (late first and early second century) and of Aulus Flaccus Persius (34-62). It was especially printed for Eton College prize giving at the Chiswick Press, employing Caslon Old Face type.
