Compendium Morale. Petrus Columna..
Manuscript book in wrappers with title. Wrappers and first few pages age darkened and frayed at edges without significant loss of text. Part of title inscription now indecipherable. Some water stains in lower margins but text clear and legible.
No date but at least eightieth century..
LATIN MANUSCRIPT. 8vo. 5.75 x 7.25 inches. 103 numbered leaves, with 99v.-101 blank, and index.
Latin manuscript on the philosophy of morality and behaviour, possibly of the eighteenth century, signed at end, Pietro Colonna...? Bologna. It has not been possible to identify a Pietro Colonna associated with Bologna. There was a Cardinal Archbishop of this period, Pietro Colonna Pamphili (1725-60) who appears to have been solely a political prelate and an earlier, Pietro Colonna Galatino (1460-1540,) a friar who was an author, philosopher and theologian. The Colonna were an old Roman family long associated with the papacy.
I have have been unable to trace this to any published work, it is possible it was a private devotional work or it was in preparation for publication which was not achieved.
