8vo. 7.5 x 5 inches. xiv + 123 pp. Bound in original cloth, with black titles and block on front board, gilt on spine. Extremities worn, some edges of first few pages have damaged lower margins and scattered foxing, including title pages and preliminaries; otherwise a good copy. Illustrated by 5 pages of plates, including frontispiece and 4 plates numbered in text. All illustrations are present in spite of irregularities in numbering. A popular handbook on palmistry, many times reprinted, which first appeared as a self publication in 1894. Cheiro was the pseudonym of William John Warner, also known as Count Louis Hamon (1866-1936), Irish born astrologer and clairvoyant. After studying in India he became a celebrity fortune teller of the day.
