8vo. 6 x 9 inches. xv + [i] + 476 pp. + [6] pp. publisher's catalogue. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt. A little wear to extremities and darkening of edges; otherwise a very good copy. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of half title. A detailed narrative of church history from the beginnings of British Christianity and the Saxon Conquest to the death of the bishop, St Wilfrid, c.709. At the end are tables of principal events and of royal and episcopal succession and genealogical tables. William Bright (1824-1901), was ordained priest in 1850. In 1868 he was appointed Regius Professor of Ecclesiastical History and Canon of Christ Church, Oxford. First edition published 1878.
