A systematic narrative of all the actions for which British servicemen were awarded the VC in the Second World War. John Laffin (1922-2000) served in the Australian army in the New Guinea campaign during the war and later became a prolific military historian (see partial list of his titles at front of the book). In the 'Lions led by Donkeys' controversy of World War one historians, Laffin agreed with the Donkeys school of thought and expressed his views forcefully in British Butchers and Bunglers of World War 1 (1998).
