Large 8vo. 9 x 6 inches. viii + 702 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt with gilt decorated title block on spine, in pictorial dust wrapper, designed by Barnett Freedman, which has sunned spine with small chips at head and tail. Deckled edges. Some pages uncut. A little wear to extremities and browning and spotting of edges and flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by colour frontispiece, by Barnett Freedman Decorated by title page vignette. First edition of an anthology of poetry and prose, edited by Walter de la Mare (1873-1956). The illustrations and wrapper are by Barnett Freedman (1901-58), artist, illustrator, stamp designer and typographer. He came to prominence with his design of the illustrated edition of Memoirs of an Infantry Officer by Siegfried Sassoon, 1931 and later served as a war artist.
