8vo. 5.75 x 8.75 inches. 108 + [2] pp. Bound in original cream cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has slight edge wear and darkened spine. Extremities a little worn and spotted and some foxing of flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. Signature on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 6 full page wood engravings by Clifford Webb, including frontispiece. Patrick Miller was a pseudonym for George Gordon MacFarlane. A production of the Golden Cockerel Press, which ran 1920-61. The artist Clifford Webb (1895-1972) was a favourite illustrator of the Press during the Christopher Sandford period, 1933-59 and his wood engravings appeared in eight titles.
