High quality reprint edition of medical essays by Canadian born Sir William Osler (1849-1919), physician, historian of medicine and book collector. First published in 1904. Osler founded the teaching hospital system of clinical training for medical students with residency for newly qualified doctors, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he was chief physician. He moved to Britain in 1905 when he was appointed Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford.
