8vo. 7 x 4.5 inches. xxi + [i] + 394 pp. + 4 + 40 + 16 pages publisher's lists. Bound in original green cloth, with gilt and black borders, titles and blocks; spine decorated gilt. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. 1891 signature on first free endpaper, with later name stamp below, repeated on half title and at end. Illustrated by 9 colour plates, including frontispiece and by 144 text figures. Decorated by publisher's logo on title page. A comprehensive guide to house painting and sign writing, etc. by Ellis A. Davidson (1828-78). At the end there are long lists of the publisher's numerous practical guides, including Weale's Rudimentary Scientific Series. First published in 1875, editions appeared as late as 1922. A scarce title.
