A comprehensive medical dictionary, including medicines and herbal remedies, well illustrated by thirty fine copperplates. Dr George Motherby was a Yorkshire born physician who practised in Highgate. He was one of the pioneers of the variolation method of immunisation against smallpox (see the entry in the Dictionary). The first edition was published in 1775. (ESTC T61354).
