Eric Chou (1915-80) was born in Manchuria and educated at Peking University. During the war he worked in various Allied information services and later as a journalist in Hong Kong. This book relates his experiences following his arrest on a visit to the Peoples Republic and holding in detention in Shanghai, 1952-57.
