Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, text figures and tables, with running titles, etc. in colour. Pictorial front wrappers, one in full colour. Bound set of microscope catalogues of Cooke Troughton and Simms Ltd. of York. Formed as a result of a merger in 1922, it became a subsidiary of Vickers in 1924 and part of Vickers Instruments Ltd. in 1963. During the war it supplied optical instruments for use in tanks, ships and aircraft, employing a staff of 3,300. The site ceased trading in 1963 and the factory has now been demolished.
